Menopause & oopause

Even though no one can predict the time of menopause, the average age that it occurs is around 52 years. But before this point, there is a period of 10 years where a significant decline in fertility and therefore egg quantity and quality is noticed, that period in Anglo-Saxon literature is called “Oopause”.

At the beginning of this period the woman has normal menstrual cycles, feels well, might collect enough eggs through IVF and possibly even obtain morphologically good rated embryos. Some of them may implant but eventually lead to a high probability of miscarriage and less often to the birth of a healthy child. This one is the most difficult period for a woman who realises that all her expectations and efforts fade away without her being able to physically feel the weakness of her body.
