Since 2010, egg freezing has been launched in cases where there was no partner in younger ages and the patient wanted to preserve their fertility unchanged over time. Eggs are also cryopreserved by the rapid freezing method and thawed when the patient desires to fertilise them and create a family with the right partner or a sperm donor.
It is a technique that has provided a solution to women who are either worried about the time it takes to find the right partner, or women who are facing cancer and have to sacrifice their fertility in order to save themselves. In these cases that chemotherapy and radiation therapy are most often destructive to the ovaries, fertility preservation gives a vital solution for hope.
