Miscarriage & age

It is now clear that the older the candidate mother is, the greater the chances of miscarriage due mainly to abnormalities in the chromosomal content of the eggs. These chances are estimated at 50% in the age group 40-44 and up to 90 % in women over 45. However, we all might know a woman who managed to have children at an advanced age and even me, I have to remember cases of patients that despite my honest warning information about the relative success rates, chose to try and finally succeeded. Unfortunately though, these couples are not the rule.

What happens then, when a woman enters menopause? Can’t we help? Of course there are ways that help and will be analysed in the “Therapy” section.
